Set up Touch ID for two-step authentication

You can use Touch ID to complete two-step authentication on a Touch ID-capable device, such as a 2017 or newer MacBook Pro or a 2018 or newer MacBook Air.

Follow the steps below to set up Touch ID for two-step authentication on a specific device. You'll still be able to sign in on other devices using SMS, an authentication app, or a hardware security key.

Before you start

Set up Touch ID two-step authentication for a device

  1. Open the Personal details page on the Stripe Dashboard.
  2. Under the Two-step authentication section, click Add authentication method.
  3. Select Use Touch ID.
    • If this option is disabled, review the Prerequisites section above.
  4. Touch the fingerprint sensor when prompted by macOS.MacOS prompt that says the following: Google Chrome is trying to verify your identity on dashboard.stripe.come. Touch ID or enter your password to allow this.
  5. Enter a name for your Touch ID device. This helps distinguish it from other devices if you add more.

At your next sign-in, you’ll be prompted to use Touch ID for two-step authentication. If don't want to use Touch ID, use your hardware security key or cancel the prompt to authenticate with SMS or your authenticator app instead.
